Frequently Asked Questions

1) “I can’t make the whole summer commitment, can I only work part of the summer?”
No. The majority of all jobs require a 9 week commitment.

2) “Is there a dress code?”
Somewhat. We provide all staff with two staff t-shirts at the beginning of the summer. These are to be worn during Open Houses, Family Picnic, and the first two days of each session.  Beyond that all shirts and shorts need to be appropriate length, content, and material.

3) “Do I get to pick what age I work with?”
No. Our director team sits downs, discusses, and analyzes which staff and age groups fit best. There are many attributes and skills the director team takes into account when placing counselors. In the end, every group is a challenge and guaranteed to bring its own rewarding experience!

4) “Can I work if I don’t drive?”
Yes. Pre Camp Senior Counselors do not drive camp vans.

5) “Do I have to go to training?”
Yes! Training is extremely important and mandatory. At training you will learn camp culture and traditions, child development skills, camp games, and more.

6) “How old do I need to be to be a Senior Counselor?”
To be a Senior Counselor you need to have completed your first year of college, or the equivalent, and be over 18 years old.

7) “When is training?”
Training begins on Saturday June 9th, and continues June 11th through June 16th.

8) “Do I have to be CPR and First Aid Certified?”
Yes, but if you are not certified before working at camp we hold our own certification class. You can get both your CPR and First Aid Certification from Outpost Summer Camps. To sign up for this class please email Marina at marina@outpostsummercamps.com.

9) “What is the Clubhouse?”
The Clubhouse is a place at both Day Camp and Pre Camp with lots of important people and resources for yourself. This is where you will take campers for first aid, find resources for games and activities, and where lunches and other materials are stored. The Clubhouse Coordinator will be there each day managing attendance, supplies, and making sure camp is running smoothly.

10) “What is a fort?”
The fort is one of the most special places at Outpost. When looking at a fort with normal vision you may only see a sycamore tree and some bushes. At Outpost the fort is the most secretive, secluded, and special place! This is the spot that is exclusively picked by you just for your group. A fort can become whatever your group chooses it to be; a mall or a place to hide from the enemy.
